Calls for applications for the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Program 2022 in Germany, a fully funded research grant open to all international applicants.
The scholarship program offers junior executives master’s courses in disciplines that are particularly relevant to social, political and economic development, prepares them in a practice-oriented manner for responsible positions in or for their regions of origin and contributes to the establishment of economic and social forms that are democratically oriented and are intended to overcome social inequalities .
Application benefits:
- Scholarships (currently €931 per month) for master’s courses at German universities.
- Health insurance coverage in Germany
- Appropriate travel allowances for trips between Germany and the respective developing countries
- A study and research grant
- Rent allowances and, if applicable, family allowances
- Previous German course in Germany, duration up to 6 months. Participation is mandatory.
Application process:
All applications must be submitted in English or German.
- Fill out the DAAD application form «Application for a research/study grant» (see Appendix 2) only once and state the selected master’s degree course(s), in the latter case clearly with first and second priority.
- When applying for two master’s degree programs: Submit one application for both master’s degree programs and only one letter of motivation. In it you should explain in detail why you have decided on the respective master’s programs and your reasons for prioritizing them.
- Please submit the application form for the master’s programs of your choice (maximum two) with the required documents (see below). Scholarship applications are only accepted via the master’s degree programs.
Selection criterion:
- Graduates from developing countries (Bachelor or equivalent)
- Usually with a qualified first university degree in the fields of social and political science, law, economics, politics and administration
- Willingness to actively contribute to the social, political and economic development of their home countries/regions
- who have already gained study-related practical experience (professional experience, internships, political/social commitment)
