Great offer! The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is pleased to be able to offer the habilitation scholarship to all interested applicants who wish to study at a university in Germany.
The scholarships are intended to fund exceptional international and local students who wish to embark on a Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship at the University for the 2022/23 academic session in Germany.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is a foundation of the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and is funded by the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It promotes international scientific cooperation between excellent scientists from Germany and abroad. The foundation was originally established in Berlin in 1860 to support German scientists with research projects abroad.
The Humboldt Foundation offers a flexible funding program for researchers in all phases of their career. This research program enables outstanding scientists from abroad to spend a longer period researching in Germany. The Humboldt Professorship, Germany’s most valuable research award, brings top international researchers to German universities.
Selection criterion:
- Regardless of their research discipline, the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship is aimed at postdocs from Germany with above-average qualifications.
- You have German citizenship.
- If you are not a German citizen, you can apply if you are doing research in Germany at the time of your application.
- Doctorate completed less than four years before application. Applicants who are about to complete their doctorate can apply if they submit the manuscript of their dissertation or publications with the results of their dissertation, but no earlier than six months before completing their dissertation.
- Scientific publications are reviewed according to international standards and printed in journals or publishing houses.
- Confirmation of a research place and supervision agreement as well as a detailed report from an academic host at a research institution abroad who can work as such in the Feodor Lynen research grant program.
- Expert opinions by the doctoral supervisor and another scientist who is qualified to make a well-founded assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, preferably including experts who do not work at the applicant’s institute.
Scholarship Benefits:
postdoc Candidates can apply for a 6- to 24-month fellowship, experienced researchers for a 6- to 18-month fellowship, which can be divided into three three-year residencies.

- Doctoral certificate or proof of successful completion of the doctorate or confirmation that this will be the case within the next six months
- If required: acceptance form and confirmation of receipt from the publisher as well as summaries/translations of important publications that are not available in German or English.
