The Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for local and international students. This scholarship is offered specifically for undergraduate studies. The scholarship covers full tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board.
The Simmons Honors Program is an interdisciplinary program that develops thought leaders for the 21st century through rigorous curriculum and experiential programs.
The honors program engages motivated students and enhances student experiences in all majors by guiding them through complex intellectual tasks and problems. All Honors students are encouraged to delve deeper into their major and expand that knowledge through exploration of other departments and programs.
Honors Program students are part of a “community of scholars” and offer an enriching curriculum presented in small seminars and team-based courses. This community includes professors who are teachers/researchers, bringing their own research and community engagement to the classroom, and creating intellectual environments that challenge Honors students to venture beyond what they thought possible.

Entry requirements:
Students applying for the Simmons University Kotzen Scholarships must meet the following criteria:
- Preferred Language: English.
- Eligible countries: All countries in the world
- Standardized test score of 28 or higher (ACT), 1300 or higher (new SAT) or 1250 or higher (old SAT – CR+M). At least 600 in each SAT section highly recommended.
- Apply as a freshman for the fall semester
- Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL and SAT or ACT scores
- College preparatory curriculum including an advanced math course during or before your senior year of high school
- GPA of 3.3 or higher, unweighted
- A record of taking honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses as available in their high school systems
Application benefits:
This scholarship covers full tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board. An additional $3000 annual stipend is awarded for study abroad, summer internship classes, short-term courses, or research assistance. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of four years of full-time study and replaces any merit scholarships previously awarded. Students who meet the criteria below are often also interested in the Simmons Honors Program.
application process
- Applicants must complete and submit both their scholarship application and admissions application to the college by December 1st.
- The application consists of two parts. A short answer and a formal essay. Students should submit their essays via our online portal form or by email to [email protected] with the subject «Poke Application» by December 1st. On each page of the document, students should provide their full name and date of birth.
- Short answer (250 words maximum): How would you use your additional $3,000 annual stipend (for study abroad, short-term courses, summer internship, and/or research support)?
- Formal essay (no more than 500 words): What is the most effective way for a woman to drive change in today’s world?
- Interview: Finalists selected for a scholarship must complete an on-campus interview, which will be conducted in February. If you are an international applicant who cannot make it to campus, a Skype interview may be conducted instead.
