2022 ACS Green Chemistry Institute Study Grants for International Students

Hooray! For those seeking admission in the US, the ACS Green Chemistry Institute is pleased to offer the International Study Scholarships opened for the 2022/23 academic session to an exceptional student.

Founded in 1876 and chartered by the US Congress, they are one of the largest scientific organizations in the world with over 151,000 members in 140 countries. Selection criterion:

A young international scientist is defined as an undergraduate student and above but below the level of an assistant professor and within the first seven years of a professional career.
Applicants residing in the United States and internationally are eligible for this award.
Travel must be to a technical meeting, conference or green chemistry training program. Students should consider attending the Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference. Prize money cannot be used to participate in the ACS Summer School on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Energy.
The applicant must demonstrate a research or educational interest in green chemistry. Green chemistry is defined as the discovery and design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.

Advantages:

The ACS Green Chemistry Institute will receive an award based on estimated event travel, accommodation and fees of up to $2,000. If two Breen Scholarships are awarded in a year, one of the awards will go to an undergraduate student and the other to a graduate or graduate student.

Application method:

Applications must be sent in a single PDF file [email protected] with “Breen Fellowship Application – [applicant’s last name]’ in the subject line and no longer than six 8½ x 11 inch pages, written in a font no smaller than 11 points, with margins of at least 1 inch
Supporting documents: Students must submit the following documents to the university:
Cover sheet (no more than one page) including:-
Applicant’s name, department, institution (or company), and field of study.
Name of applicant’s faculty advisor (or supervisor) and contact information.
Name, date and location of the conference or meeting that the applicant is requesting funding to attend.
Estimated budget for travel expenses of up to US$2,000 (including conference registration fees, travel and accommodation) to attend the conference. The award will be mailed after the conference as a refund check. Meals/groceries are not eligible expenses.
Essay (no more than one page):- by the applicant on their interest in green chemistry, including previous experience in the field, how they will benefit from attending the selected conference and why they should be selected to receive the award.
A resume or resume no longer than two pages, including:
Name of applicant, department, institution (or company), and faculty advisor (or supervisor).
Applicant’s mailing address, telephone and email address.
A few sentences about the applicant’s teaching or research interests and career plans in the field of green chemistry.
Field of study, degrees, educational experience, GPA or other measure of class level and work experience (if any).
List of recent presentations and publications (if any).
Letter of recommendation: – from the applicant’s academic advisor, supervisor or department head (maximum two pages long). The letter can be sent separately or enclosed with the other application documents.

Entry requirements:

Applicants must have a previous graduation certificate with notable results.
Language requirement: If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your spoken and written English skills.
